Developing a timeline

I found this an invaluable device to help me plot my story. It gave me a base to hang everything from. I constantly referred to it to work out where my characters were living, working, departing and even dying. I stuck it on the wall next to my desk and added to it as I worked. It really helped with the continuity of the story as mine is relatively complex with people all over the world. Mine was terribly scruffy…..all that matters is that you can decipher it! I used a page for each year of my story (1939-1945) dividing it up into months, crossing of each fact or detail as I used it up in the book.
